Passing the Torch: Dede Laugesen Takes Up the Mantle as President & CEO of Save the Persecuted Christians

Dear Friends,
It’s been a rough week with Charlie Kirk’s death and the nation in mourning. Nonetheless, we remain hopeful that God will make wine from the water of our tears.
On Wednesday, September 10, a few hours before Charlie Kirk was assassinated, I was promoted by the Board of Directors of Save the Persecuted Christians to serve as president and CEO. I have previously served as the executive director of the nonprofit since its founding in 2018.
Our former president, Frank Gaffney, will stay on the Board along with Suzanne Grishman, our chair, and other members, Eric Metaxas, Lt. Gen. Jerry Boykin, Ann Schockett, and Rev. Kevin Jessip. I am also joining the Board.
Save the Persecuted Christians is committed to countering the cultural marginalization, information warfare, and bloody persecution of Christians everywhere on the planet and especially here at home in America. We are committed to defending faith, family, life, and the pursuit of happiness, peace, and prosperity for all.
I’m humbled to lead this group of Evangelical, Catholic, and Jewish patriot leaders who love America and seek to amplify the voices of Christians at home and abroad who are harmed for loving Jesus at a time such as this.
Together, we can turn the tide in this 250th year of American greatness!
Erika Kirk’s grace and courage are a call to action for every Christian in America and around the world. We are reminded that we cannot give up an inch of territory. We have too much to lose. Our families, our grandchildren, and our nation are all on the line in this culture war.
As he battled on the frontlines, Charlie was unwavering in faith. He debated with unbelievers what Jesus teaches about our creation, faith, and family life, and what this nation’s founders believed, taught, and wrote about the same. He challenged the youth of this great nation to think deeply on who we are, why we’re here, and what we are each individually called by God to do with the lives and natural rights he gifted to each person.
In debate, Charlie offered time-tested and proven principles based on our Christian and cultural heritage. An evil man tried to silence his voice. But, not just his voice, our voice, and the voice of a rising generation of Christian faithful.
The war we fight is a spiritual battle for Western Civilization. None of us can sit silent on the sidelines. We must stand firm in faith, no matter the cost, even to death on the cross.
As Frank always says, “Let’s roll!”
Be like Jesus,
Dede
