In Denver, they filled the park\. Democratic Socialist Melat Kiros — the DSA\-backed candidate who campaigns to abolish ICE — was the VIP\. Adults from the Democrat Party, the DSA, Denver Communists, and allied groups worked the crowd\. Journalists and bystanders milled about peacefully\. Students I spoke with were mostly pleasant, good\-hearted kids\. They were also clueless\. They moved like a school of fish\. Several told me their teachers and administrators “fully supported” the walkout\. That is not civic education\. That is adults using and manipulating other people’s children for their divisive, destructive and dangerous political agenda\.
